Is いる a type 2 verb as its pronunciation implies? I ask because the list of exceptions has 要る as a type 1, despite the identical pronunciation, not to mention sharing a pronunciation and also being a type 1 exception is 煎る.
Just not 100% sure if the pronunciation itself is what determines whether it is an exception or if it is JUST the two listed (要る & 煎る).
いる is written as 居る in kanji, and it’s a type-2 verb.
