How to convert Japanese verbs to Passive Form?

type-one verb:change the u-hiragana to a-hiragana and add れる in the end.
For example,く→かれる.
Please note that there is an exception. When it is a verb looks like xx-う,for example,う,then you need to change う to わ,not あ,so it will be う→われる.

It depends on the context. You need to judge by the context.

  6. Hello, I have been loving this course Marshall it is really High quality!
I have a question why do these example phrases end in られた or された. For example
the passive form for 𠮟る is 𠮟られる then why does the phrase go 私わ先生に叱られた.Shouldnt the phrase supposed to be 私わ先生に叱られる.And in all your examples end with た but we just learned that the passive form ends with る, for example, たべられる and not たべられた。
Thank you again Marshall for this splendid course really one of the best I have found so far!

Because if you got scolded by your teacher, this thing happened already, so you need to use Past tense, Which is 叱られた。
Of course you can use 叱られる。
for example, 私はよく先生に叱られる。I often get scolded by my teacher.
