shi look easy to write but it’s actually hard.
When learning the katakana “shi” make sure it is very accurate, because the katakana “tsu” is VERY similar.
How did イエス come to sound ‘ jesus’ ? I hear it like iesu.
I have no idea, maybe it’s because of some history reasons, for example, some Japanese misread this vocabulary and then this pronunciation spread
Just a guess, but I do know “Jesus” is pronounced “Yesus” in Indonesia, which is a former Dutch colony (source: Indonesian family). The Dutch did a lot of trade with Japan throughout history. My guess, both Japan and Indonesia got their pronunciation from primarily the Dutch.
