Lesson 4: Who

In this lesson, I will teach you how to say “who” in Japanese.

In Japanese, you can use どちらさま、どなた and だれ to say “Who”.

Examples:

どちらさまでしょうか。
Who are you?

どなたですか。
Who are you?

きみだれ?(it’s a little bit rude)
Who are you?

かれだれですか。
Who is he?

Notes:

①どちらさま is the most polite way to say who, and どなた is more polite than だれ.
②でしょうか is a formal way to say ですか.

  2. I decided to do some very short dialogues for these new words, so I can practice. The first one is kinda funny tho XD

    ジュリ: 君は誰だ?
    シャリ:何???
    ジュリ:あ、すみません

    クレエ:どちらさまでしよか?
    ジル:ジルです
    クレエ:よろしくお願いします。

It’s rude. You’d better not use it.
