Lesson 3: He, She, They

In this lesson, I will teach you how to say “He, She and They” in Japanese.

In Japanese, You use かれ to say “He” and 彼女かのじょ to say “She”.

Examples:

かれ先生せんせいです。
He is a teacher.

彼女かのじょしゅです。
She is a singer.
Example

By the way, Japanese also use かれ(or かれ) to say “boyfriend”, and use 彼女かのじょ to say “girlfriend”. Basically, You need to tell the meaning by context.

Examples:

わたし彼女かのじょはかわいいです。
My girlfriend is cute.

わたしかれはかっこいいです。
My boyfriend is handsome.

As for “They”, if they are all male or there are both male and female, you can use “かれら” to say “They”.

If all people are female, you can use “彼女かのじょたち” to say “They”.
