Lesson 1: I, We
In this lesson, I will teach you how to say “I” and “We” in Japanese.
If you are a male, You can use 私、私、僕、俺 to say “I”.

私 The most formal one. Only use in formal situation such as interview. (Both male and female can use it) |
私 Less formal than 私, but it’s polite enough to use in an interview. (Both male and female can use it) |
僕 僕 can only be used by male. And in fact Japanese male usually use 僕 instead of 私. But it is said it’s impolite to use 僕 to your superior. So you’d better use 私 to your superior, and use 僕/俺 to your friends. |
俺 俺 can only be used by male. The least formal one. You can only use it with your friends. |
If you are a female, You can use 私、私、あたし to say “I”.
