Notes:
| （1）「ありがとう」is for friends and family, and 「ありがとうございます」 is for when you want to be a bit more polite. Quick tip: use 「ありがとう」 with friends, and 「ありがとうございます」 with people you’d call Mr. or Ms (or strangers). （2）You can use いいえ to respond to both situations: it means “you’re welcome” when someone thanks you, and “no, it’s okay” when someone apologizes. |
