Japanese Adverb Lesson

Meaning:

「だいたい」means “about”, “usually”, “On the whole”.

Note: It can be written as 「大体だいたい」too. They are the same.

Examples:

だいたい準じゅん備びできた？
Are you about ready?

だいたい終おわった？
Are you about done?

彼かれらはだいたい同おなじ年齢ねんれいです。
They are about the same age.

だいたい2に週しゅう間かん以い内ないです。
It’s within about two weeks.

普ふ段だんだいたいどこに遊あそびに行いくの？
Where do you usually go to play?

父ちちはだいたいいつも七しち時じに帰かえってくる。
My father usually comes home at seven.

私わたしはその実験じっけんにだいたい満足まんぞくしている。
On the whole I am satisfied with the experiment.

彼女かのじょはだいたい二に千せん冊さつの本ほんを所有しょゆうしている。
She has about 2,000 books.

君きみの考かんがえは大体だいたい僕ぼくのと同おなじだ。
Your idea is about the same as mine.

だいたいどのくらいの時じ間かんがかかりますか。
About how long will it take?
