Just a general question about these katakana word lists: If I were to say any of these English words to a Japanese speaker and pronounce them “Japanese-sounding” as if I were reading the katakana, would they be able to understand? Like have these English words been chosen because they are common enough in Japan that people would have heard them before? Or is this more just to practice reading the katakana characters with words we would know?
