Lesson 5: Japanese Words about Week(1)

In this lesson, you can learn the following words.
先々週、先週、今週、週末、今週末、来週、再来週、平日、毎週、三週間前、三週間後.

Example Sentences:

母は先々週インフルエンザにかかりました。
Two weeks my mother came down with the flu.

彼女は先週からずっと忙しい。
She has been busy since last week.

私は今週はお休みです。 
I’m on holiday this week.

今週末までには届くはずです。 
You should receive them by the end of the week.

来週詳しく説明します。
I’ll explain in detail next week.

再来週まで延期しましょう。
Let’s put it off till two weeks later.

私は平日は白いシャツを着ている。
I wear white shirts on weekdays.

彼女は毎週必ず母親に手紙を書く。
She always writes to her mother every week.

私は三週間前にホテルを予約しておいた。
I reserved my hotel room three weeks in advance.

三週間後東京に行くことになっています。 
I’m supposed to go to Tokyo three weeks later.

Note:

々 is a repetition kanji or “ideographic iteration mark“, it means that the kanji just before should be repeated. The pronunciation changes according to the kanji being repeated, but a lot of the time, the second kanji will be pronounced like the first one, but with a dakuten (hi->bi, to->do, ha->ba). It often makes a word mean “more than one of that thing”. Here’s some examples:
日々(ひび): days, or every day
人々(ひとびと): people
色々(いろいろ): various
散々(さんざん): severe
昔々(むかしむかし): a long, long time ago
時々(ときどき): occasionally
早々(はやばや): very early
