N5 Kanji Course

Meaning

In Japanese,七 means “seven”.

How to read it:

Kunyomi:なな、なの
Onyomi:しち

How to write it:

Origin:

The kanji 七 is the origin of the kanji 切(it means the verb cut),which is combined by 七 and 刀(it means knife)。 And at first the kanji 七 is the same as the kanji 十(it means ten),so we changed it a little bit to differ from ten,you can remember 七 by the sentence “I cut the board for seven times”,and the shape I cut looks like 七.
