Usage:

Te Form of Verb + いる/います

Meaning 1:
〜ている means someone is doing something now.
〜ています is the polite form of ている.

Meaning 2:
〜ている means someone do something usually.

Meaning 3:
You use 〜ている to describe a certain statement.

Examples of Meaning 1:

かれはなしています。
He is talking.

Are you playing any sports?
