In Japanese,裏 means “back”.

There is a 里 and 衣 in 裏.
So you can remember this kanji by these two kanji.
衣 = coat, 里 = field and mud
You can see the field, the mud and the coat here.
So you can remember this kanji by the back of your coat got mud after you went to the field.
So 裏 means “back”.
