How do you say "as part of..." in Japanese?

Is "~の一環として" a natural expression?

I've read in an article that native Japanese don't usually use this expression in daily conversation.

Does this sound natural - "私の練習の一環として”?Or is there another way to say it?

一部(いちぶ)

Try to do something with your shifty eyes.

Is 匂い (におい) usually used for smells when they're bad or can it be used for good smells too? Could I use 香り(かおり) when the smell is good? I got the second word off a set of scented erasers I bought recently.
