Lesson 1: Basic Numbers
In this lesson, I will teach you eleven N5 words: basic numbers 一、二、三、四、五、六、七、八、九、十 and ゼロ.
Meanings and Readings:
| Word | Reading | Meaning |
| 一 | いち | one |
| 二 | に | two |
| 三 | さん | three |
Study Notes:
(Seven) has two common readings. なな (nana) is often preferred in everyday counting because しち (shichi) can be easily confused with 一 (いち, one) or 八 (はち, eight) in fast speech.
- These are the standard “on” readings used in many counters (e.g., 五歳 go-sai, five years old).
